Wendy Jackson Hall: Festivals
Animation events are one of the biggest perks of my job. I have attended animation festivals and conferences all over the world, including the Annecy International Festival of Animated Film (France), Fantoche Animation Festival (Switzerland), Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Japan), NATPE, the Ottawa International Animation Festival (Canada), SIGGRAPH, the Society for Animation Studies conferences and the World Animation Celebration (USA). I often participate in these events as a/an:
- Juror: Ottawa International Animation Festival and the Annecy International Animation Festival
- Curator: Retrospectives on Mary Ellen Bute and Yvonne Andersen at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and a four-year animation film series at the Rhode Island School of Design
- Lecturer: Presentations at the 1998 and 2002 Society for Animation Studies conferences
- Teacher: Workshops at the Student Animation Festival of Ottawa and the Video Using Educators Conference (see also “Workshops” for university seminars and classes)
- Moderator/Panelist: Panel discussions at the Cal Sun Animation Festival, the Henry Art Gallery, the Sedona International Film Festival and the World Animation Celebration
- Organizer: I am the secretary of ASIFA-Northwest, my local chapter of the International Animated Film Association, for which I organize monthly screenings, lectures and social events for members. I have also organized events for other non-profit organizations: 911 Media Arts, ASIFA-Hollywood and Women in Animation (WIA)
