USMV Walla Walla

I'm on the Walla Walla this morning. The ferry is an amazing example of '60s design aesthetic: wood paneling, pale orange and canary yellow formica, chair-row arrangements at right angles to each other (probably to better facilitate "rap sessions"). There's even line art drawings on the walls of driftwood and lonely harbor pilings that bespeak the era in more subtle ways. I like it. If it wasn't s much smaller than our regular boat, I wouldn't mind taking it every day.

We got Cinder back from her second operation Wednesday in good form. She cried when Wendy picked her up and again when I came home, only to communicate the trauma she had endured. This operation was to remove the metal plate doctors put in her leg after it was run over by the neighbor. She has a big bandage around her leg now that we have to keep dry. We're just happy to have her home.
