How I Like to Read a Poem
I race through it, scanning the words.
It's like a code,
Or a mosaic of words
Or a foreign map on the floor.
Then I let it all out of my memory,
As people do when they meet
Some unpleasant person at a party.
And I read the title again aloud
Before combing my eyes over every word.
It's like a code,
Or a mosaic of words
Or a foreign map on the floor.
Then I let it all out of my memory,
As people do when they meet
Some unpleasant person at a party.
And I read the title again aloud
Before combing my eyes over every word.
