Going to the Mountain

Work has been very busy lately. It saps my energy for other things--like writing. I enjoy my job, though, for most of the same reasons why it drains me. It's a 40-hour-week puzzle.

I "went to the mountain" last weekend. That's my phrase for getting away to think about things. It was really productive; I'm glad I went. My big revelation was that I can divide my life into categories, or classes, and grade my happiness in each of those. I found that I am happiest in those categories that are most important to me: marriage, home, career, family. I also realized I can make myself happier by doing those things that improves multiple categories--like doing a hobby that increases my sense of fulfillment and increases my social circle. I wonder why there are things that are good for me, which I enjoy doing, that I don't do more often?

We had a garage sale this weekend that was relatively painless. We made about $110 and these women got their car stuck in our boat gravel. The rest of the weekend was beautiful and warm. I had a major gratitude attitude this weekend. I must remember to soak those up when they happen; they will carry me through harder times.
