Open Letter Never Sent

We had a nice visit today from David and Kazuko, their daughter Kaia, and David's parents. It is the first time that someone from work has visited my house since we moved in over two years ago. There's just something about me that wants to keep my work life separate from my home life. I remember I was like that in Jr. High, too. I had friends at school and friends at home, and I had no interest in joining the two parts of my life.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking about sending this letter:
Dear Governor Dean,

I'm writing you an open letter, and I hope you will respond. You see, I'm a despondent about the way recent events indicate is the direction this country is going.

George Bush is going to try to make this campaign about George Bush vs. Curtain of Evil. Notice how it is much larger and bumbling the phrase sounds than the maniacle cunning of Al Queda or the disappearing act of Saddam Hussein? Notice how it is much different the "curtain" is, a porous blind rather than a three-point "Axis." The Bush administration is doing a McCarthyite trick on not just the U.S., but the whole world. By misleading the American public about intelligence reports, by taking thousands of Iraqis and paying for it with hundreds of American lives, by rushing America into this war, and by defying the world's patience, George Bush has done a very horrible thing to our future.
