I'm Back
When I was working at Billboard magazine, I remember hearing the Backstreet Boys single, "Backstreet Boys are Back." How absurd? It was the first time I was even hearing of them...
I have a somewhat troubled history writing this blog, and all diaries in general for the whole of my life. When things get busy, it seems, this is the first thing to go (we wouldn't want anything to interrupt TV watching, would we?). A combination of technical hurdles and lifestyle changes have conspired to keep me away...but I have returned, triumphant, and this time I will try to stay longer.
I feel like it's my duty to explain to what's changed in my life since the last posting, but it really isn't. Chances are you either already know or don't care or both. Allow me to recount instead the history of the Universe, which shrank in the prior phase to an impossibly dense and small sphere hundreds of millions of years ago. We cannot know how long it was in this state and what caused the change, but it exploded--magificently and violently--and all that compressed energy and matter spread out as widely as it could. As it cooled, it coalesced into clouds and chunks, stars and planets. That's where we are now.
I just heard on the radio that Mount Saint Helens is erupting.
