"Boil the Blood; It's a Good Source of Food and Salt"
I had to kill some time yesterday in a vast retail necropolis next to the airport as I waited for my nephew's late plane to arrive at SeaTac airport. I went into a Barnes and Noble and browsed through their bargain books. One that caught my eye was Survival: Army Field Manual No. 21-76. It was a simple, imageless paperback cover with the title in big black letters. It was cheap, too; I think $4.99. I thumbed through it and considered buying it...it could, after all, come in handy when the shit hits the fan. I decided not to buy it because I didn't really want to live in a world where trapping and cooking rats were necessary to my survival.
