Creepy Presidential Graphics

Creepy Presidential Graphics
Filling Our Backgrounds With Slogans
How many of our tax dollars are used to create those slogan backdrops that sit behind the president's every public appearance? It's downright creepy. The guy can't even sign a law without being photographed next to a banner that reads something like "Signing Bills Into Laws."

After some Google searching, I've learned that the magic is all thanks to Scott Sforza, a former ABC television producer who now works for White House Communications Director Dan Bartlett.

I guess it was inevitable that the cult of TV would visually infect the American presidency. I'm sure that whenever Bill Clinton sees those backdrops, he bites his lower lip in frustration of not having thought of the idea himself.

Those graphics turn every speech into a rally, reduce every issue to a slogan. We'll never be without them again. It's just a matter of time before some president starts selling the space behind him to Nike.
